Karna Purna

HERBAL OIL TREATMENT FOR EAR AILMENTS

Karna means “ear” and Purana denotes “filling” or “pouring”.

Filling the ears with oil is an Ayurvedic treatment that helps to pacify Vata and bring grounding. This treatment lubricates the delicate filaments of the ear canal, and removes impurities.

Karna Purna INDICATED FOR:

  • Loss of hearing

  • Ringing of ears (tinnitus)

  • Vata headaches

  • Insomnia

  • Irritations and dryness of ears

  • Inability to focus or concentrate

  • Vertigo

  • Earache

Treatment Process

The ear is filled with lukewarm medicated oil; the roots of the ears are massaged. The oil is allowed to remain in the ear for a particular amount of time. The practitioner will perform a gentle massage of the ear and the surrounding region. Some cotton is placed in the ear to absorb the oil.
