The purpose of self-massage, also known as Abhyanga - a daily routine to balance the nervous system, prevent physiological imbalances and to lubricate and enhance flexibility of the muscles, tissues and joints.

ACCEPTABLE FOR ALL DOSHAS - VATA & KAPHA ESPECIALLY

(pitta related sensitivity and skin related issues may be best to avoid using this oil: Unless you are ok with sesame oil and have tried that then this oil will be acceptable to use)

BENEFITS OF SELF-MASSAGE:

INGREDIENTS

cold-pressed sesame oil, kumkum, chandan, nyagrodha, manjistha, kumkumadi yog

DIRECTIONS

  • heat the oil to a warm temperature (never to be applied cold)

  • apply the oil from your head to toe

  • for stroke instructions refer to the articles page for ‘abhyanga’

  • make sure to wash the oil off (minimum time to have oil on is 7 minute- maximum is 48 minute)

  • best time is in the morning before breakfast, so you can shower after the massage
